Can I deny the sale to the highest bidder on Ebay?

I just sold my Ipod touch 3rd generation on Ebay and the highest winning bid was 80.00 and there is NO WAY I am selling my product for $80.00 when the product is worth 300.00. Is it possible to deny a winning bidder a sale?

This is why you set a reserve. If you don’t go through with it, you will get get kicked off ebay eventually. (I think it’s a 3 strikes you’re out thing though.)

Ebay’s pretty strict on this and they have to be. Can you imagine how ebay’s business would suffer if they allowed people to post things all day that they had no intention of selling? You have to be offering a real item. If you don’t give it to them, then it’s not a real item and you will get a reputation on ebay for fraud.

Please note, it’s an ebay reputation, legally you wouldn’t be in trouble. You just can’t use ebay anymore because they have a right to ban you for such behavior. it’s in the contract you click when you sign up for an account. If you try to register again after being banned, then you could be in Legal trouble for fraud.

Next time, put a reserve on it. That’s a hidden amount that the buyer doesn’t see, but if the bidding doesn’t reach it, you don’t have to sell it. However, the buyer does know if there’s a reserve, so you can’t claim there was one now.
