Why do people pay thousands for timeshares when you get the same thing on EBAY for a dollar? What a scam?

Go to EBAY— type in Timeshare. You will be SHOCKED to see what timeshares are selling for. These are Gold Crown (RCI) and 5 Star (II).(Very nice condos.) These are the same thing That The High Pressure SALES PEOPLE tried to sale you (Predominantly Orlando and other frequented vacation spots) for 10’s of thousands. Heck, you can even go to travel sites such as Expedia and Priceline and rent the place for the same thing your maintenance and taxes would be anyway. It just a matter of time before Congress gets involved.
I wonder how stupid people must feel when their timeshare is worth $100. However, The resort sales it for 15K.

The timeshare market is saturated which is why they are so cheap. So many people buying something they do not understand. In the market something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. This goes for timeshares as well as homes these days. The retail price for a timeshare is elevated because the salesperson is making a nice commission and so is the resort. The cost of building the resort is enormous. Congress will not get involved because there is no crime going on. Timeshares have been on the up and up since the early 90’s when the industry had to completely overhaul the industry. Prior to that they could sell 200 weeks for a 52 week room. This is one of the reasons people became leary of timeshares . I bought mine retail. I didn’t pay much and dumping on to my mortgage to pay it off meant a big fat tax break for me. I have zero desire to sell mine because I’m using it and loving it. I’ve been all over the place with it through transfers and such. When I retire I will get some extra weeks so I can enjoy it that much more. I may buy a different one off of ebay so I can save some bucks.
