How do I insure an item I bought on ebay?

The item is a laptop with three years warranty costing about 800 pounds. I bought it last month. I have called loads of insurance companies however none of them insure laptops from ebay and the fact it was bought from the USA does not help. I don’t understand why because insurance is supposed to insure you against theft and accidental damage. Weird! So I was wondering if anyone has insured an item purchased from ebay and how you went about doing it.

The type of insurance you are referring to is provided by the manufacturer of the laptop or separate coverage that a well known electronic store such as Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. provides for their customers. The reason outside insurance companies do not insure items purchased from eBay is because some items are sold new and used and some sellers stock from smaller independent wholesalers. Therefore, you see they cannot insure someone else’s product that may or may not have been used.
I would contact the seller on eBay that you purchased the laptop from and ask them to contact the distributer of the laptop or give you the contact information for you to contact them and ask about insurance coverage.
